Dan's 1998 holidays

April 1998: “Bethan”, Cambrian Cruisers of Pencelli
We hired a 40ft 2/4 berth from Cambrian Cruisers for a mostly wet week in April. The boat was compact but nicely fitted but this was one of the worst weeks for weather we have had boating! The canal was attractive, with few locks and as ever we enjoyed the trip. The base had recently changed hands and the company was a well run, high quality operation.

September 1998: “Sutton Diamond”, Sutton Staithe Boatyard
We were off to the Broads again, this time with Grandma and Grandad too.
We booked 42ft “Sutton Diamond” from Sutton Staithe Boatyard’s then hirefleet as she was only a couple of years old and had an ideal layout with three fixed doubles.
Grandma and Grandad were on top form as always and we had a nice week cruising the Northern & Southern Broads.
The boatyards stopped its hirefleet a little while later and the boat is now “Royall Diamond” from Royall’s of Wroxham
